David Buchanan discovered computers and comic books at a young age. He became fascinated by technology and how it can be used for storytelling. Over time his interests also developed into a love for movies.

After graduating from Columbia College Chicago, Buchanan completed a Directors Guild of America internship and an Optimus commercial post-production house internship. He then began working as an Associate Colorist for the commercial post-production house I-cubed. After several years as a Colorist, Buchanan transitioned into working as an Ad Developer/Video Editor for Apartments.com.

Buchanan then when on to complete a Master of Science Computer Science degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, specializing in Interactive Intelligence.
